Workshops

Please let me know if there are workshops you would like to see besides the ones outlined below. I would be happy to accommodate your needs. Ideal number of participants would be 15. In most cases sewing machines and ironing stations are required. There are additional kit fees. Supply lists will be provided.

Art Quilt: Monarch   This is a wallhanging art quilt made using the fusible webbing and raw-edge machine appliqué technique. A good project for those who have never done a pictorial quilt before.

Baby Quilt: Aquilegia   This is the traditional Drunkard’s Path block made the easy way, including valuable tips.  You can choose your favourite 4 colours, or use the suggested colours. The image on the right is an example of a baby quilt using this block.

Wall Hanging: Double Windmills  A variation of a traditional block, this design takes advantage of dark to light values of your choice of colour to create texture and movement. This basic block is used in my ‘Midnight Wind’ wall quilt.

Wall Hanging: Arrows   This is a simple-looking patchwork made up of three basic blocks. In each block interesting and ‘clever’ techniques are used to make the construction easy and precise. You can choose your favourite 3 colours or use the suggested colours. The design is the same as my ‘The Grey Area’.

Art Quilt: Cardinal   This is a  wall hanging art quilt made with the fusible webbing and raw-edge machine appliqué technique. Tips on composition and construction will be shared.

Spring Beauty: Machine-Appliqué and Trapunto    This is a patchwork and appliqué wall hanging made all by machine. Several tips on construction will be shared.  The image on the right “Spring Beauty” is an example of a 9-block design.

Art Quilt: Autumn Splendour      This is a very easy and fun art quilt to make using free-motion machine sewing. Perfect for the fall season. Option: Spring Leaves.

Art Quilt: Enlarging a Photo and Raw-edge Machine Appliqué:      A simpler image will be used to show the steps for enlarging a landscape photo. Raw-edge machine appliqué and free-motion sewing are among the techniques used. Very informative and would appeal to those who have never made a pictorial before.

Paint a Zebra and Take Home an Art Quilt:    This is a fun and easy art quilt to make using markers. A good sampler for wholecloth painting. No painting and no piecing. This is a good workshop to learn free-motion machine quilting. This piece can be finished in 1 day.

Machine Quilting on Domestic Sewing Machine: If you have never done machine quilting before or if you would like to gain confidence at creating unique quilting designs, this is a great workshop for you. Come prepared with several assembled ‘sandwiches’, and using many choices of images as inspiration, learn to free-motion machine quilting. Your finished blocks can then be pieced together to make a wallhanging or a lap quilt you will be proud of.
